Alma Lee Woods Alma Lee Woods, 90, of Lakewood, was reunited with her husband of almost 70 years on November 16, 2015. Members of the family had gathered to say their goodbyes as her brave battle with cancer came to an end. She was born on August 6, 1925, to Thomas and Odessa Ross in Clovis, New Mexico. Lee moved to Long Beach after high school and married Jim Woods in 1944. Jim was stationed at George Air Base and they lived in a converted shed in Oro Grande due to the housing shortage. Jim was en route to an overseas base when the war ended and they returned to Long Beach. Buying their first and only home in 1950 in Lakewood, they started a family and enjoyed a good and active life together. Lee was a founding member, past president and life-long member of Lakewood Women's Club. She also found time to volunteer herself in PTA, Cub Scouts, Veterans Hospital and local charities. She will be missed by the many friends she enjoyed working with. She is survived by her brother, Bob (Olga of Encinitas); two sons, Ron (Teri) and Don (of Lakewood). She treasured her two grandchildren, Jeff (Lisa of Lakewood), and Annie (Kevin of Bellingham, WA); and was jubilant and loving of her two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Lincoln (of Lakewood). She loved all of her family and kept in contact with cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. Thank you mom (and dad) for being our role models of how to live a responsible and meaningful life.Graveside services Monday at 10:31 am at Riverside National Cemetery. Please sign the guest book at
