Allan Lee Pipkin passed away on October 5, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was 60 years old. He was born on November 10, 1955 and resided most of his life in El Centro, CA. He graduated in 1973 from Central Union High School, where he met and later married Susan Jimenez; together, they raised four children. Alongside his siblings, Allan lead Ralph Pipkin Trucking, a family business which his father started in 1936. He managed operations throughout California and oversaw multiple team members. He was a natural leader, who encouraged and challenged others to be better versions of themselves. He was also competitive by nature, an attribute that helped him excel in football, as a Defensive End at both Central and at the University of Pacific. Allan loved playing football and the experiences and friendships he made because of it. In 1980, he graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from San Diego State University. Allan was a giving man with a strong, captivating voice and a powerful presence, not to mention he had impeccable style. He made sure his company was always welcoming, bringing good energy, laughter and, even in challenging times, an uplifting attitude. He loved reading biographies, completing crossword puzzles, playing the guitar, singing along to classic rock, coaching and playing golf, smoking cigars and driving (a bit too) fast up the California coast. We were blessed to learn from his many words of wisdom. His favorite bit of advice was you are responsible for your own happiness," his reminder to us that we have the power to choose to live each day happily. Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and June; mother and father-in-law, Ricardo and Mae Jimenez; and his brother and sister-in-laws, Joyce Bormann and Richard Jimenez. He leaves behind his former wife of 28 years, Susan; his children, Joseph, Marissa, Kathrine and Jamie; his brothers and sister, Lee, Marc and Kathleen; his sister and brother-in-laws, Wendy, Ruth, Sharon Jimenez, Steven Arnold, Conrad Bormann and Robert Jimenez; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer; his three grand-children, Noah, Caleb, and Elijah; and his eighteen nieces and nephews. Allans family wishes to thank the many talented and hard-working medical professionals who helped him over these last few years, including the staff members at Blossom Valley Inn, El Centro Regional Medical Center and Imperial Heights Health and Wellness Center. A special thanks to Bianca Garcia and Johnnie Cyr who went above and beyond for Allan. We ask in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his honor to the Brain Support Network (www. brainsupportnetwork. org), an organization dedicated to supporting families dealing with and facilitating research for neurodegenerative disorders. We ask you join us to celebrate Allans life on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Desert Trails Golf Course, a reception lunch will follow the memorial service.
