Alice Fay Waite Herring, 68, of Laurinburg passed away on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by the Rev. Woody Byrd. A private interment will be held at a later date.

Alice was born on Aug. 3, 1945 in Scotland County, daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Edwards Waite. She was preceded in death by her husbands the late George Patterson and the late Thomas Herring. Before her illness, she worked in the restaurant business. She served as a former member of the Gibson Baptist Church and later attended Hillside Free Will Baptist Church. She loved cross stitching, working on puzzles, and playing Bingo.

Alice is survived by her children, son John H. Patterson of Laurinburg and daughters Tammy Locklear and husband Jason of Laurel Hill and Lisa Oxendine of Laurel Hill, brother Jimmy Waite of Laurel Hill, sisters Pearlie Mae Densmore and Mary Kessler of Laurinburg, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
