Alice Mae Perrot Duncan passed away November 19, 2016. Alice was born on August 24, 1917 in a small house on Parker Lane outside of Rolla. She was born to Frank Michael Perrot of the Perrot family who lived in the area from the 1800's and Mary Carolina Koenig Perrot of St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters; Agnes Grotha, St. James, Mildred Horn, Rolla, Genevieve Colter Halkum, St. Louis, and Marie Perrot, who died as a child.On August 23, 1937, Alice married Oscar L. Duncan, descendant of a Phelps County pioneer family. To this union was born four children; Jerald (Louise) of Rolla, Kenneth (Sharon) of Rolla, Janice of Rolla and Keith (Nancy) of Rolla. She is survived by her children and nine grandchildren, Gary Duncan of Rolla, Ron Duncan of Columbia, S.C., Mike Duncan of Rolla, Troy Duncan of Rolla, Ken Duncan of Rolla, Brad Duncan of Rolla, Bonnie Giesler of Willard, Stephanie Adams, of St. Louis and Maggie Duncan of Rolla; as well as nine great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.Alice worked with her husband in Duncan Truck Lines and together they established Duncan Moving and Storage in 1953, then started A-1 Moving and Storage in 1959. She worked by her husband's side in the business while raising her children and maintaining a home. She also supported him as he served as Presiding Judge of Phelps County, and in his interest in raising cattle and showing horses until his death in 1971. She then helped raise four grandchildren, including one with special needs who lived with her for 40 years.After her retirement, she enjoyed working with flowers, especially roses, playing cards with friends, attending a prayer group at church, and spending time with her family. In spite of a stroke, two broken hips and a broken leg in the span of ten years, she remained active, driving into her 90's and working in the yard. When asked what her greatest pleasure in life was, she answered, "when my children come." She was admired for her kindness, generosity, strength and character. She was well-loved.A funeral service for Alice M. Duncan will be conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment will follow in the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22 at the funeral home.Memorial contributions are suggested to the Rolla Area Sheltered Workshop.Online condolences may be offered at
