Alice Frances Gardner October 16,1923-November 2,2016 Alice Frances Gardner was the tenth (and youngest)child of Henry and Martha Rudel of Germany. She was born on the family ranch in Modesto, on October 16th, 1923. She entered into the Lord's care on November 2nd, 2016, after a short illness. Alice attended Fairview Elementary and graduated from Modesto High School in 1941. She worked as a telephone operator in Modesto, Lake Tahoe and San Francisco. Later in life, she worked for Booth Packing and for Hershey's. While working for the phone company in San Francisco, she met, and later married, Samuel Gardner in 1948. Their two children are George and Linda Gardner of Modesto. Alice was the last "Band Mother" of the Modesto Band of Stanislaus County (MoBand.) She loved the S.F. Giants, going to Black Oak Casino and being with family. Alice was preceeded in death by her husband Samuel Gardner (1990.) She is survived by her son George (Dawn) Gardner and daughter Linda Gardner of Modesto; grandchildren Amy (Gavin) Shumate of Oregon; Tim (Alissa) Gardner of Nevada; seven great gradchildren; devoted nieces Gayle Canapa and Beverly Cabral of Modesto, along with many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-8pm Sunday at Lakewood Memorial Park. Graveside service will be Monday at 3pm at Lakewood Cemetary. www.cvobituaries.com
