Alice A. HolzAGE: 89 •Alice A, Holz passed away peacefully on December 31, 2016, at Hackettstown Medical Center. She was born on December 4, 1927, to Watt and Grace (Clark) Arnold in Kistler, West Virginia."a coal miner's daughter".During her life, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. At various times, Alice also worked as a waitress, cafeteria aid at Long Valley Elementary School, postal employee and house cleaner. She has been a member of Long Valley Presbyterian Church since 1945. After her marriage to Theodore H. Holz in 1945, Alice lived for most of her life in Long Valley, New Jersey before moving to Hackettstown following the death of her husband on April 19, 2005. Most recently, she was a resident of Forest Manor Health Care in Hope, New Jersey.Alice is survived by her sons; Theodore s. Holz and his wife Janice of Hackettstown, New Jersey and Raymond J. Holz and his wife Susan of Canton, New York. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Stephanie, Theodore Andrew, Timothy, Joshua and Rachel and four great grandchildren; Regina, Avery, Amelia and Lysander.Alice lived a full and rich life as the wife and constant companion of the love-of-her-life "Teddy" with whom she shared a love for the "Great Outdoors" as an avid huntress and fisherwoman. She also enjoyed cooking, especially baking, and was noted and praised for her wild dame dishes, apple pies and lasagna. True to her Southern heritage, this life-long natural redhead enjoyed listening to country music, especially her favorite song " Country Road, Take Me Home" (John Denver), as it brought back memories of her native West Virginia. September vacations at Point Pleasant were another high point of her life.Alice will be most remembered for her patience and long-suffering loving-kindness showered upon her family and friends. She was deeply loved and respected in life and this affection will follow her into Eternity.The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 4 at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Rev. Dr. J. Aaron Nagel officiating. Burial will be in German Valley Rural Cemetery, Long Valley on Wednesday, January 4 following the funeral service.Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J..In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Long Valley Presbyterian Church39 Bartley Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853.
