Alfred J. "Al" Seifert, 83St. JosephApr. 3, 1934 - Apr. 27, 2017Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Alfred J. "Al" Seifert, age 83 of St. Joseph who passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at his home. Reverend Jerome Tupa, OSB will officiate. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery.Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday and after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the St. Joseph's Parish Center Heritage Hall. Arrangements were made by the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Joseph.Al was born on April 3, 1934 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Alfred and Gertrude (Mugg) Seifert. He married Kathleen Kosel on June 11, 1959 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Al farmed in St. Wendel Township and drove for Trobec's Bus Service for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Knights of Columbus Council #5773 and served on the St. Wendel Township Board for over 40 years.Al enjoyed reading history books, especially on Minnesota history, he loved watching westerns, gameshows and especially MASH. He did woodcarving and rug weaving on the family loom. Al built many precious treasures for his daughters and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and watching wildlife. Al especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.Al is survived by his two daughters, Lisa of St. Cloud and Sara (Aaron Carlson) Ruegemer of St. Joseph; two grandchildren, Gaby and Rudy; sister, Linda "Lindy" (Elmer) Lodermeier of Waite Park; brother, Edward (JoAnn) of Rogers; sisters-in-law, Darlene (Herb) Bechtold of St. Joseph, Karen Schloemer of Baxter; and brother-in-law, Kevin (Joanne) Kosel of St. Joseph.Al was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen on November 27, 2014; and brother-in-law, Jerry Schloemer.Al's family would like to thank CentraCare Home Care and Hospice, Joyful Assistants and especially Ron and Kathy Wischnefski and Gerald and Geri Gohmann for their compassionate care. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
