  • A life well lived

    Albert Bennett, 68, Born in Wilmington, NC on March 18, 1956. Lived many years in Thomasville, NC and was residing in Bristol, Tennessee at the time of his passing on October 25, 2024. Al was a beloved member of the community known for his kind heart and as a man of many talents. Al worked as a pattern maker for many years at STN Cusion Company before retiring in 2019. He had a passion for his work, classic cars and tinkering on anything he could get his hands on. His favorite hobbies were riding motorcycles and fishing and He had a love for music and could often be found sitting on his porch strumming an old hymn or country song on the guitar. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

    Al is preceded in death by parents Calton Bennett, Miriam Collins Bennett and Stepdaughter Jody Johnson.

    Surviving is his daughters Tonya Hankins (Samuel Hankins), Katlyn Bennett (Daniel Humble), Sarah Gilmore (Dillon Gilmore), Stepdaughter Cynthia Maynard (Edward Maynard) Siblings; Terry Bennett (Sharon Bennett), Charlene Bennett Anderson (Criss Anderson) Grandchildren Mikey Phillips, Haley Phillips, Evelyn Shambley (Andrew Shambley), Whitney Hankins, Tyler Hankins (Kari Hankins), Emily Hankins, Aiden Humble, Parker Humble, Hannah Humble, Skylar Gilmore and Sage Gilmore. Great grandchildren; Erica Shambley and Jaxson Manning. As well as nieces, nephews and other extended family.


    A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 2:30pm at Gospelway Baptist Church (1923 S Elm St, High Point NC) with Pastor Danny Mcmahan officiating. Sermon brought by Pastor Michael Orman of Love of God Baptist Church in Thomasville, NC. The family will greet friends from 2:00pm until 2:30pm at the church prior to the service.
