Rich John, 80, a lifelong resident of Logan, passed away on Feb. 19, 2010. Rich was born on June 7, 1929, to Alban H. (Bun) and Helen Hatch John. He attended Logan schools, graduating from Logan High School in 1947. He was called to active duty with the Utah National Guard from 1950 to 1952, and spent one year In Korea in the 204th Field Artillery Unit. On April 18, 1954, Rich married Anna Jeanne Brangham, and later that year graduated from Utah State Agricultural College with a bachelor's degree in business administration. After 45 years in the production department at The Herald Journal, Rich retired in 1993 to pursue reading, growing his custom heirloom tomatoes and making clocks.Rich was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jeanne, and his son-in-law Doug Andrews. He is survived by his brother Stephen John and his wife Bonnie of Logan. He is also survived by his four children: Susan Andrews of San Antonio, Texas, and her children Christopher and Allison; Randy John and his wife Jean of Sandy, and their daughters Angela, Melissa Cardwell, husband Eric, and children Andrew and Spencer; and Rikki Mangat, husband Navdeep and children Ajay and Sanjay; Jan Harrison and her husband Dennis of Cary, N.C., and their children John Buckley, Benjamen and Jade; and Judi Thayne and her husband Paul of Campbell, Calif., and their son Luke. He will also be missed by his good friend Debbie Andrew, to whom the family is immensely grateful for her friendship to our father. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Rich's name to the or a charity of your choice.
