Stary, A. JoyJoy Stary, age 82 of Appleton, passed away on February 17, 2017. Joy was born on March 4, 1934 in Marquette, Michigan. Her parents were the late Dicey and Olga (Kreski) Doney. She was a graduate of Green Bay East High School. On December 30, 1953, she married Milan "Bud" Stary. She worked for Pfizer Inc. and as a merchandizer for M&M Mars. She especially enjoyed her work at Casa Clare Halfway House in the 1970's, where she was able to help the needy and disabled.She had a very generous heart, was a devout Catholic, active in her church. Joy and Bud helped found Father Glenn's Mission Club. She donated to many charities through the years, and greatly enjoyed supporting The Smile Train, an organization that helps children with cleft palate find their smile and afford surgery.Joy is survived by her four children, Mitchell (Eileen) Stary and their sons, Andrew of New Richmond and Eric (Emily) of Portland, Oregon; Michael (Regina) Stary and their daughter, Katrina (fiancé Seth) of New Richmond; Mary (Jim) Wirth of Freedom and their daughter, Jessica (Shane) Hooyman of Greenville Wisconsin and their children, Sydney and Chase; Matthew Stary of Hatfield, Wisconsin; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bud, and her only sister, Patty.Funeral Mass for Joy will be celebrated on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11:30am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 West Marquette Street in Appleton with Fr. Thomas Farrell officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Wichmann Funeral Homes, Superior Street Location and on Thursday from 10:00am to 11:30am at the church. Donations will be used according to Joy's wishes to provide a Central American community with a long-awaited well for fresh water.
