A. Blanche Curtiss of Oscoda passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, age 87 years. Blanche was born on April 12, 1928 in Jackson, Tenn. to John and Electra (McKenzie) Hill. She married her "beloved" Roge (Roger) Curtiss on May 30, 1946. Roger preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 2007 and a special "adopted" daughter, Karen, also preceded her in death. They lived in Ypsilanti before moving to Oscoda in 1970. Blanche has one brother, John Hill, who survives her and resides in Key West, Fla., and many nieces and nephews. Blanche was lovingly thought of as the "Southern Belle of Oscoda." She had many "sons and daughters" in her faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, which she was a faithful member for 67 years. She will be missed by all and especially by her "adopted children" who also survive her, Jim, Tammy and Mark, and by her caregivers, Vicki and Sue. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1745 North US-23, East Tawas, MI 48730. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to do so to the East Tawas Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in her name.
